Finish

Iroko, Cedar and Douglas Fir are the best timbers to be left natural. They will turn an attractive grey and the natural oils in the wood give resilience to the elements.

Oil

Teak oil is the best finish for Iroko. This will initially turn the wood darker but will fade in time. If left will eventually turn grey therefore oiling needs to be re applied quite frequently dependent on climatic conditions. Oils can also be used successfully on Oak. View gates with oil finish

Water and solvent born stains are suitable for use on all timbers. Stains can add pigment but need to be maintained in dry conditions. Many stains are not completely resilient in open outdoor conditions.

Iroko, Sapele, Idigbo can all be spray painted to any RAL colour. Often Oak looks better showing it’s natural grain.
